Two For One

Hello

Two videos I did over the weekend to give you ideals about daily life.

One about getting dressed.

I have found having most of my clothing and prosthetic items close by while dressing helps me. Hopefully, if you have not considered it before,  It may help you. Pants/shorts, socks, shoes, underclothing, prosthetic liner, prosthetic sock(s) and of course your prosthesis.. Except the prosthesis, all things you would more than likely have to put your artificial leg back on to retrieve. Having them within reach eliminates this frustrating scenario. I can't tell you how many times I would have to put my leg back on only to remove it again once I grabbed something on the other side of the room I needed to get dressed.

It takes reprogramming. You were used to doing something one way, Now you must adjust because the situation has changed.

The ideal is to get your lower body items on first. You can then don your prosthesis without having to go back, and possibly take the leg off again. To constantly remove and take off your leg to address shoes, pants or whatever is a time killer and can be frustrating.

Getting Dressed As A BK Amputee

*******************************************************************

The next video is geared toward those whom may enjoy the swimming pool now and then. I recently moved into a place with a pool. I am really enjoying it. My AM routine is to slap on the headphones and ride my stationary bike for an hour or so. I usually enjoy a drink of water and my morning coffee while I pedal away watching the sun come up. I then get into the pool to cool down for a few before starting my day. Its been a great morning experience giving me exercise and relaxation all at the same time.

Warning - Please proceed with caution.
This video is for educational purposes. To hopefully give you ideals to safely get in or out of a swimming pool. Please be cognitive of your physical abilities and limitations. By far, besides using specific safety equipment, the safest way to navigate stairs is close to the ground on your butt, to avoid falls. This is a modification of that method.

Transferring in or out of a chair comes with risk. The chair can slide, tip over, collapse or a number of other things can happen.

DO NOT TAKE UNNECESSARY RISK. PLEASE HAVE SOMEONE WITH YOU WHENEVER DOING ANYTHING IN OR NEAR THE WATER.

The goal is to enjoy life to it's fullest!!!

Amputee Getting In/Out Of The Swimming Pool

I may eventually re shoot this with a person holding the camera. The views provided are not that great.

I have always said the bathroom is one of the most unsafe areas in a house. Wet and slippery combined with lots of hard surfaces surfaces,

A pool area is probably worse. Slippery hard surfaces combined with deep water. It can be a hazard to people with two legs let alone a person missing one or more.

Music:
Big mistake on my part. All this time I thought it was Cunningham instead of Currington my apologies
