Why Me? - Coping Strategies

 Hello Everyone.

I know many times in my life I have felt overwhelmed and played the Why Me? game. It is so easy to feel singled out or depressed. Questions like: Is there a God or creator? If so why do they let this happen to me?

Being an amputee is hard enough as it is. So when other things in life start to go bad,  often it can seem hopeless. Sometimes you need to step away if possible and really focus on how realistic your feelings are. Small things can seem huge at times if you let them. Even if they are huge, you must find a way to cope with them the best you can.

Focus on being the best you  that you can. Try really hard not to concentrate or waste time on the things you cannot change.

Small story about being in New Orleans today.

Today I drove into New Orleans. I noticed I had about  a quarter tank of gas left. So when I got into the city I went to fill up. Low and behold I pulled a Ty and had forgotten my wallet. I had no cash and no ID. I was in a crazy neighborhood after just visiting a patient. I tried to setup Google Pay on my phone. I came close to making it work, but did not remember the 3 digit code on the back of my credit card to register it.

No gas or $$ stuck in the big city. I started to get more worried. I thought about trying to CashApp a person money for cash or gas. Of course,  New Orleans is so full of hustlers I figured anyone I asked would think I was trying to scam them.

Finally an ideal came to me. Are there any Navy Federal banks in New Orleans? Navy Federals’ can be hard to find often. Sure enough there was one about 5 miles away. Would they give me money without an ID? So I drove over praying not to run out of gas. I had to wait in line for a while. BTW who goes into a bank anymore? Apparently a lot of people because it was crowded.

I approached the teller and answered a few security questions and she gave me enough money to get home and grab lunch.  :P - Life is always an adventure.
